Popcorn Ball Ornaments

Like decorations stolen from Willy Wonka’s Christmas party, these ornaments are meant to be eaten. For a fun party activity, have children decorate their own.

For homemade popcorn balls, try this recipe.

Ingredients
Small popcorn ball (one for each guest)
Mini candy canes
Colored sugar
Frosting
Mini M&M’s

Instructions
You’ll need a small popcorn ball for each person (ours are store-bought and about 3 inches wide). Use a wooden skewer to poke a small hole in the top, snap the end off of a mini candy cane to create a point, and gently press the sharp end of the cane into the popcorn ball far enough to make a loop, as shown.

Simple Christmas Centerpieces

Blue Mood

Add color to an all-white table by choosing some colored decorations for interest. These include white, which visually links them to the tablecloth, flowers, and bowl. This is a budget-friendly centerpiece solution since if you have bowls on hand, then one box of six large ornaments is all you’ll need.

Highs and Lows

Turn unused candleholders into ornament display pieces. A length of sparkly garland decorates the base, yet fresh evergreen sprigs would be equally as effective. Valuable ornaments should be secured to the candleholder with a bit of museum wax to avoid knocking them off their perch.

Tiered Tray

Here’s a lovely way to display vintage ornaments by setting them on a tiered serving piece. This one was created using three sizes of silver trays held together by two glasses and wads of floral clay or museum wax (also known as earthquake wax).

Gifts and Ornaments

Here’s an easy-to-duplicate idea that can take its cue from the design of the container. Small wrapped gifts are held in place by handfuls of colorful holiday ornaments. The gift bows of sheer ribbon add a bit more flair to the scene
