1 Anjou pear or 3 Seckel pears, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup molasses
3/4 cup water
